Writing on a Rainy Day

It's been a long time...I have no excuse except that of exhaustion. Things in the King household are going good. We are mostly working all the time and trying to fit in some fun in there as well.

We have celebrated our 1st anniversary! It was great! We went to a wonderful dinner on the water front! Then we took a long weekend away to the Keys!!! The Keys were prefect. We mainly just relaxed and looked at the beauty of the Keys. We also celebrated James's 25th birthday! I got him paddle board lessons and new board shirt! We had so much fun! We are now wanting to get surf/paddle boards!! At the end of summer, we took a road trip to Alabama! It was so nice to see family!! I had not seen my mom and dad since January, my sister since May, Nana and Pop since Easter, Chad/Tiff/and Kids since October, and the rest of the family since Christmas. I'm so glad we made the decision to go home. I miss my family so much and treasure the times that I'm with them.

James is busy at the shrimp farm. Next week he is getting to attend an Aquaculture Workshop at Harbor Branch. I'm excited for him, and I think he is looking forward to it too. He has definitely been staying busy! I know he is stressed a lot, but I'm so proud of the work he is doing. I know it is going to pay off for them!

The zoo job is going. It has been a great learning experience and a great financial blessing. We have been able to live comfortably. However, the job is taking a toll on me. The hours have gotten some what better, but still pulling at least 9 if not 10 hours plus commute. However, the hardest thing is not being able to attend church on a regular bases.

James and I both work on Sunday. At first I thought this wouldn't be that bad, but as weeks go by something is missing in my life. It's church! A church family! We do have an opportunity to attend the Sunday night service in downtown West Palm Beach. This has been a blessing. However, it is sometimes so hard to commit to go every week or even twice a month sometimes. See, the service starts at 7:00. I'm lucky to get off work by 5:30 if not closer to 6:00. That's not bad, I just have to go to Nancy and Harry's house to shower or at least clean up. James on the other hand, gets off at 5, has to go by the apartment to shower, then drive 45 minutes south to meet me, then we go and shove down a bowl of soup at Panara (it's right beside the church) and the walk in to church right on time!! We do all this after a long, hot day at work! Needless to say, it takes great discipline to go. It shouldn't be like that. I want to go, I long to worship and learn with my brothers and sisters. We would just like to have Sundays dedicated to worshiping our God, fellowship, and family time. I never knew how much I took that for granted. I know this is just a chapter of our life, but I hope that it is a short chapter!

We did make an exciting purchase last weekend!! We bought a grown up couch!!! For those of you who were lucky enough to sit on our wonderful college couch, you are probably very excited for us!! For those of you who have not been so lucky, our couch was falling apart. The springs were breaking like crazy. It was so uncomfortable and we could not relax after a long days work. So we had been saving (with the help of family!) and finally broke down and bought the one we have been eyeing since Christmas! It wasn't an issue of do we like it? It was more like, should we really spend money on something we don't need, but just want? We could use the money to pay bills, buy food, you get the picture... but we thought about it and decided that we were always complaining. So we needed to do something about it! God definitely was in the working process, because we got the couch we wanted for $250 less than the original asking price!!

Hopefully I can make a better effort to write more often. If I get really behind, please forgive me and then tell me to write something!! I love sharing our life with friends and family that we don't see on a daily bases. We love you all and miss you all so much!

Wow... Long time

Hello everyone! Sorry for the LONG delay with my post!! I have been having difficulties adjusting to the new schedule I am now on! I will try and catch you up a little on what has been going on this last month!

The new job is going good. I'm having a little trouble adjusting to the long hours and weird weekends. A typical day is: wake up at 5:10, leave the house by 6:00, arrive and clock-in to work by 7:00, on average leaving work at 6:30 (I've left as early as 5:45 (actually 30 minutes late) and stayed as late as 7:30 (more then once!), hours long drive home, arrive at home some time between 6:45 and 8, eat dinner, try to spend so time with James, but end up going to bed by 8 or 8:30! Needless to say I have long days!! Thankfully it is summer and the sun is coming up when I leave and is not setting till 8:00 or 8:30! I don't know what I would do if it was dark both times!!
Besides getting use to the long days, there is also the odd weekends. No one is off on Tuesday and Wednesdays!! Including my husband!!! There is a possibility that he might can get Monday/Tuesday weekends, but no sure yet. It would be great for us if he could! I would love a full day to spend with him! However, I know it will be difficult for him to give up Sundays and church. That's another thing I'm having to adjust to. I haven't been able to go to church yet :( WE have tried to go to the night service on Sunday in downtown, but haven't been able to yet, but hopefully that will change! We also have J1Ten (our young adults service/meeting) on Tuesday nights that we can go to. For me it is my church! Unfortunately we haven't been able to go consistently the last couple weeks. It's hard to want to drive another time to West Palm and sometimes we just want to spend some time together.
Yet another adjustment is the heat!! I've been in Florida for 5 years and I know the heat, but it is totally different being out in the heat 5 days a week, 10 hours a day!!! I've never sweated so much!!

We have had some excited news... We were able to buy a car!!! We traded in Roxy (my 95' 275,000 ml Honda passport) for a 2009 Honda fit!!! I LOVE IT!!!!! It is sooooo cute!!! Even though my sister thinks it looks like a space car! I have named this car Sliver Mist!! I love naming my cars! I know I'm a little crazy!

Yesterday was James' s Birthday! I surprised him with paddle boarding lessons for this morning! It was so cool!! We both loved it! I'm thinking we need to get some boards!! I really wish we had a weekend together so we could enjoyed things like this more often! I miss that so much. We enjoy embarking on new adventures like this! I'm so glad his boss let him take the morning off so we could enjoy that together!

I'm so thankful for my job. It has been such a blessing for me and James. We were able to get another car, and are just sitting more comfortable financially. I just hope we are able to work out the challenging details!

I realized today that a year ago today I officially moved over to Stuart! I can't believe how quick this year has been!! In a couple weeks James and I will be celebrating our One Year Anniversary!!!!!! I can't believe it!!! This has been one amazing year!! Love being married to my best friend!!!

Well I've caught you up on whats happening in the life of the Kings, mostly just work and spending the time we get together and treasuring those moments!! Oh, and I'm looking forward to seeing my sister on Sunday!!! She is coming for a few days!! I miss her so much and looking forward to spending some time with her!!

Riding a New Wave in Life

I know, its been a long time since I've blogged!!! I'm so sorry!!! I have been adjusting to a new schedule, which has been pretty hard! The job at the zoo is going good. It is a lot of hard work, but mentally and physically. It has been an adjustment going from a marine biology background to more of a terrestrial biology background. I'm very thankful for this job at this time in my life (and with the state of our economy). The job is just causing me to learn how to adjust to different things!!
I'm slowly learning all my different kinds of waterfowl! I have so many different kinds of ducks/geese that its not event funny!! I'm starting to be able to do things on my own, which is good and bad! Good that they trust me and think I'm ready, and not so good because of all the pressure that comes with all that responsibility!! One of the hardest things that I'm having to get use to is the long days and weird weekends. I'm up at 5:30, out the door by 6:30 and clocked in by 7:30. So far the earliest I've left is 5:45. I've been normally getting off by 6:15, this puts me home around 7 or a little after 7!! A LONG day to say the least!! The commute is ok, just long!! The weekend thing has also been hard to get use too. As most of you know, James's weekend is Sunday/Monday and mine is now Tuesday/Wednesday :(  We no longer have a day to spend together :( It is a BIG adjustment, which I'm learning is probably harder for me then James. Or at least I'm showing it more than him! I try to remind myself that it could be worst. I could not have a job. And that I have friends that are spending a year apart because of their jobs. When I think about that it puts everything in perspective. Are friends in our life group encouraged us to set up a date night and stick to it, that way we can have quality time together! Love that idea and it will be in place this week!!!
Besides adjusting to a new schedule, things are going great! I thank God everyday for his provision in our life and for the job He has blessed me with! I will try and keep updating every week! Forgive me if I don't!

A New Wave To Ride

Most of you probably already know, but I wanted to share it anyway in case some of you had not heard yet. I WAS OFFERED THE JOB AT THE PALM BEACH ZOO, AND OF COURSE I ACCEPTED IT!!!! I'm so excited right now. I have not been able to stop thinking about it. We had our small group tonight, and I don't think I was all there because I kept thinking of the phone conversation that I had had just minutes before we met! It was so nice hearing the other side of the conversation of being offered the job, and not the your good, but not good enough speech! I'm definitely nervous. It will be a very challenging job, but I'm up for it. I plan to do major homework this weekend!! I need to brush up on my bird zoology and starting learning scientific names all over again! But it is totally worth it!!!! I HAVE A JOB!!!!
Thank you Lord for providing me with this opportunity. Thank you for all that you have taught me along this journey. There were times I doubt, wondering if I was ever going to get a break. But now I understand, God's timing is never our timing!! Thank you all for the prayers and encouragement along the way. It has helped more than you will ever know!
Oh, and James said I should mention that I have already failed on my making better choices for food (previous post). I had him stop for a hot fudge Sunday on the way home from small group tonight!! I will excuse it on the bases of celebrating the new job!! However, he said we will celebrate this weekend as well!!!

Sailing across the ocean...

So I've been reading this book the last couple weeks (my goal is to finish it by the weekend) about this couple that decided to sell everything when they got married, buy a boat, and sail around the Pacific Ocean. Ok, I know what some of you might be thinking,  my mom, no we are not thinking about selling everything and buying a boat. Although I really would want to, we don't have enough stuff to even put a down payment on a boat! I do, however, have this dream and goal to learn how to sail a boat. The thought of living a simple life on a boat does speak to me, maybe one day I can see this come true. I'm jealous of one of my girl friends and her boyfriend back in Tampa. They are in the process of looking/buying a boat and planing to move to St. Thomas in the Fall. I told James we should just pack up and move with them! I don't have a job here, so maybe I can find one there!! And who knows, maybe they need shrimp farmers in St. Thomas too!! I know this is way off topic for me and what I usually write about, I've just been so into this book. It's all I think about. And it doesn't help every where I go down here I see sail boats!

This week has been pretty good. Camping was so much fun!! I do miss camping. Although, I do need to find out what keeps no see ums from biting you. I have little bits all over me!!! We also had pretty good food. I made Mexican rice for Friday night that we warmed up on the fire. So good!! Then on Saturday night we had hot/veggie dogs. The veggie dogs were not that bad. And if you ever need the find them in the grocery store they are in the produce section. I know, weird, but true! Both nights we had smores of course. And on Saturday night Jenn taught us how to make bananas stuffed with chocolate and marshmallows! So good! We ended the weekend with Tijuana Flats! I so miss going there with Jenn back in Tampa!

The rest of the week has been work. But yesterday night instead of going to our young adults group, we decided to have a nice night together. We went to the beach and read till sun down, then ended the night with a walk on the beach. It was a much need relaxing night for the both of us!

Ok, so I've decided that I'm way out of shape and that I have put on a few pounds. SO, I'm going to try and be more discipline to working out. James is also in this with me, but we have agreed that even if the other person can not work out, due to work schedules, the other person will still work out. We have not set a schedule yet, that is on my to do list for today. I did get up and run the bridge this morning. Ok it was more of a jog/walk, but I really don't like running so I have to work my way up! So hopefully we can stick to this! I really need so encouragement. I'm also going to try to incorporate some better eating habits, not a diet, just better choices! Hopefully that works, I'm a sucker for sweets just ask my family!

Well I should  go and start on my to do list for today. Continue to pray for my job situation. I still have not heard from the zoo. I'll be starting to research more jobs. Pray God will show me where He wants me. Thanks everyone!

Catching up!

Wow, Ok so I'm really behind on blogging!! Well not much has happened over the last couple weeks, so you haven't missed out on much! Things are still going good for us, and I'm realizing how God is truly blessing us. I got up the nerve to call the zoo today to find out if they had filled the position. Thankfully they have not! So there is still hope! I just wish they would make a decision one way or another so I wouldn't have to keep waiting for an answer! The waiting game is getting harder and harder, not easier and easier! I spent most of the day today on the computer searching for more jobs that I could apply for. Not much luck with that. I did find a couple, just don't know how promising they are. We will see, I know something is out there, I just have to search and rely on God's timing. Which I'm learning by the way is very different then my timing!!

We have had a great couple of weekends! We had a great Easter weekend with my Nana and Pop. We loved showing them our new place and were we live now. We had an amazing church service!! God is amazing! Easter can be summed up in three words: Change, Power, and Hope. It was a great message brought to us by one of the Teaching Pastors of our church, John Maxwell. We had an amazing Easter Dinner with Nana and Pop and James's Parents as well! The food was so good and made me miss dinners back home! Only if my rest of my family there with us it would have been totally perfect! However, it was so nice having some of my family during the holiday and having them in church with us!

This pass weekend we got to go to our second home, TAMPA!!! We love it there!!! One day we might move back!! Joe and Christy are MARRIED! It was such a beautiful wedding! It was so nice to see all our friends that we had not seen in so long, some since before we got married! It was a nice surprise to see that Caroline and Evan were the photographers for the wedding! It was nice to catch up just for a little second with Caroline! Miss her so much!! We had a great time. We took a stroll around campus! So much is changing there and I've only been out for almost a year! Then to end our mini vacation we made a stop at Epcot!! We enjoyed the Flower and Garden stuff that they had. We probably sound like "oldies" but we did really love it. We were walking around pointing out flowers we hope to have in our garden someday! We also got to meet up with Jenn, Ashleigh, Logan, and Peter for fireworks!! It was such a  nice surprise!

I'm totally looking forward to this weekend!! We are going camping!!! It has been way to long!!

Time is really fling by. I can't believe we are already in April. Lately I have been missing a lot of things. I miss my family so much. Now that I don't have school consuming all my time, and seeing other people with their family makes me miss mine even more. So jealous of my Mom and Dad right now, they are in Puerto Rico right now!! Miss my sister a lot too. I was talking with her the other day and realized how much she is growing up! I'm also missing my best girl friend, Brandi! I can't believe we have not seen each other since my wedding. We use to see each other everyday, how things change when you get out of college. But it's great to know when you have true friends. Ones that stay close to you know matter the miles between you! I'm so counting the days till June when Brandi comes to Florida for a month!!!!!!!!! Miss ya girl!

Well I have rambled enough now. I should go to bed. I will try and be better at blogging. I do think about it, I'll be honest, I'm just lazy sometimes!!

Exciting Waves Ahead, Hopefully!!

So, this has been a great week. I had a phone interview with the Palm Beach Zoo on Friday afternoon. After going to an interview today for a position at The Florida Oceanographic Society, I got back to my car, turned on my cell phone, and a few minutes later I received a phone call from the Zoo. They offered me a second in-person interview!!! So I made it to the second round!! I'm very excited!! And anxious, nervous... I want to be excited, but I don't want to get to excited in case I don't end up with the position. I'm just tired of the rejection calls and emails. I got a call yesterday to let me know that I did not get the sea turtle research job. Their speeches are all the same, "You have a great resume, don't give up, good luck in your search, but we decided on someone with more experience."
James has been so supportive during all this. We had a nice talk on the way home from J1Ten. He reminded me yet again that God is in control and there is a purpose for me going through this time. He also reminded me that I did ask for patience back in the summer. God is definitely teaching me! We are so blessed by God. He is providing all our needs and even some of our wants.
We made the decision to renew our lease. It was a difficult decision for us. We like our place now, the only cons being laundry and commuting to West Palm. However, we weighed our pros/cons and decided for the time being we would be able to deal with the laundry and commute. So that in another years time, we will hopefully be able to get a better place and not have to settle with some place that is the cheapest.
We had a great weekend! We actually got a full weekend together without one of us working. And we got to go to church together for the first time in 3 weeks! Going to church together is something I treasure. When we first met each other, we actually got to know each other by carpooling to church together! After church we spent the weekend cleaning and doing 6 loads of laundry, So that Monday we could take it easy and go to West Palm to hang out!
We are excited for the weekend. Nana and Pop are coming to visit us!! It will be nice to see family! We also have a busy April. We will be heading to Tampa for a friends wedding the following weekend, and then Jenn and the kids are coming over to go camping!! It will be so nice seeing friends and family!!
Well I've rambled enough! Thank you everyone for keeping us in your prayers! We appreciate them greatly!

Time between Waves

Wow, It's been two weeks since I have posted anything. Things have been a little busy around here, but that's not much of an excuse! The past couple of weeks have been a little more encouraging. I had my interview with Ecological Associates and know that they have not yet made a decision yet! So there is still hope with that one! I have a phone interview tomorrow night with the Palm Beach Zoo. It is for a zoo keeper position working with birds. I know it's not exactly what I want, but it is a full time position with benefits, so I would take it for now!! Then I have an interview next Tuesday with Florida Oceanographic Society for a camp position they have available. Again another temp position, but it would be a fun one!!

Working at Jcpenneys is getting harder and harder. I'm not use to not knowing a schedule two weeks out and dealing with the people there is very stressful for me. I would quit right now if I had something else to go to! I know it is a job that's giving us a little extra cash, but I do not like the stress of it :(

We are looking forward to a busy April! Nana and Pop are coming for a visit on Easter Weekend! Then the following weekend we are heading to Tampa for Joe and Christy's Wedding!! Then the weekend after that Jenn and her kids and coming down and we are going camping!!! I have been wanting to go camping for so long!! Can't wait to go!!!

God has been showing us his blessings by allowing us to meet more friends through our J1Ten group at church. We are loving meeting every Tuesday with people of common mind to worship, learn from God, and fellowship!! Our small group is starting a new study on the Book of Eph. tonight. I'm looking forward to this. We just finished Primal and loved that!

James is doing good! He is working like crazy! I love him and appreciate all the hard work he does for us! He defiantly deserves a vacation soon!

Tuesday, March 9, 2010

Wow, this has been a long week! It seems like forever since I have blogged! This week has been good, just long. It felt like we had no true weekend this week, well at least it did for me! I was able to work Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday this weekend. Although I was off Tuesday and Wednesday before, James was off Sunday and Monday so we didn't get to spend as much time together this weekend :( But we are very thankful that I got so many hours this week!
We did get to go out on Friday night. I was able meet one of the guys that James works with. It was a great night. We just sat around talking about everything biology related! Such bio nerds I know!! You got to love us!!!

Our car is now in the shop. We don't have a clue why they are taking so long to just replace our bumper. We did get a rental car, but it is pretty ugly!! But at least it is getting one of us to work I guess. Hopefully they will call about the car tomorrow. We want our element back!!!!

We are helping start a fellowship life group for our church campus. Our first meeting is on Sunday! And tonight we found out that a couple people are planning on coming so that was good. We were afraid no one would show!! lol!

I have not heard back from the sea turtle research job yet. I'm feeling a lot of mixed emotions: nervous, worry, discouraged. I'm just tired of the whole finding a job process. I just want something soon. I was able to find a few jobs that I can apply for this afternoon. Hoping to get everything sent in tomorrow morning. I also had a weird job offer at Bank of America this past Friday. I just happened to be talking to the VP of that branch while doing my banking, and he told me he had a position open and I should apply. So I did. I talked with him today and he said someone should be calling me soon. I hope I hear from the other position first, but I'm not against taking this job for a period of time while still pursuing a job in my field. My family and I have invested so much money and time into my education I hope to find a job using my degree soon!! One that is paying!!!!

James was excited today. They placed their first tank for shrimp at a local marina today! This is big news to those of you that don't know about what he does. He is a biologist for Scientific Associates doing shrimp farming that is green in its production. They are developing was to raise shrimp in a green way in tanks so that we can preserve our natural populations in the wild! Hopefully all goes well with the new tank at the marina! Congrats babe!! Ya'll have worked so hard!!!

Rolling on the Waves of Life

Well, the week ended on a much better note than it began on. I did have the interview for the job on Friday. Everything seemed to go great, I'm just waiting by the phone now! I should know by the end of the week if I got the position. I'm really hoping it works out. The research seems so interesting to me!

We found out today that we will be able to get the bumper replaced next Monday! We have an amazing life group. Wednesday nights we usually drive 30 minutes south for our life group, but this last Wednesday we were just not feeling up to the drive since we had been up so late the night before and James had worked an extra long shift that day. Since we were not feeling the drive down, our life group came up to us! They brought cupcakes and gave us a gift card for Pei Wei!! Life groups are so much more than doing bible studies, they are about doing life with one another! We are so thankful for them!!! Thank you guys!!

At Loggerhead (the sea turtle hospital I volunteer at) we are finally getting some of our sea turtles to eat for the first time the last couple of weeks. I actually got 2 to eat for the very first time two weeks ago. How did we do that you might ask? Well, I feed them with a bamboo skewer. They are so funny to watch! But also very nerve-racking! They can bit!!

Our weekend was nice. Sunday consisted of us going to an art fest downtown. It was pretty cool! Then we went to the human society. We found a dog we both really like, but we didn't get it yet. We decided that before we get a dog, I need to have a steady job. We want to be able to support the dog!!! Monday we went to a beach called Blowing Rocks! It was so pretty!!! It is so far my favorite beach!!! We just walked the beach and sat and looked at one of God's beautiful paintings! It was a prefect day. High of 70!

Tonight was J1Ten. Pastor Shuan brought a powerful message from Jeremiah 2. I am loving Jeremiah. This book is so powerful. I challenge you to read it. Not just skim through it, but truly read it. Jeremiah paints a picture of God being so real, so raw. Trust me you will be challenged, convicted, encouraged all from the first 2 chapters! That's as far as we got so far!!!

Looking forward to the rest of the week! Hoping for good news to come sometime!! Trusting God every step of the way! And praise God that I got 4 days at Jcpennys this week! Friday through Monday!!!

Wednesday, February 24, 2010

Well... I thought I was going to be more excited to write this blog, but tonight on our way home from J1Ten we were rear-ended. Two cars in front of us ran over an orange cone and with one rear-ending the other, we slowed down to avoid hitting them, and ran over the orange cone ourselves, and then someone rear-ended us :/ We sat on the side of I95 till 11:30ish and we are finally getting back home. Feel kind of sorry for the boy that hit us, but still we want are car fixed.

So... on to some brighter news. I got an interview for one of the sea turtle research jobs I applied for. It will either be tomorrow or Thursday. She will be confirming tomorrow morning!!! So I was pretty excited about that!

This week has been a pretty good week. Saturday I help with "yard sale for freedom". People in our church across palm beach and martin counties had a yard sale to raise awareness of Human Trafficking. All the profits made in all the yard sales are going toward organizations that help in this area. I saw on one post that $37,000 was raised so far from the yard sales!! Praise God! I enjoyed helping the youth at our campus! For those of you that may not know, our church is made up of 5 different campuses, the main campus meeting in palm beach gardens. We attend their newest campus, Stuart! We are loving it! I've never been apart of a church like this. God has truly blessed us with this church!

Sunday was our first beach day in a looooonnnnngggg time!!! It was amazing!!! Beautiful weather! And you could definitely tell it was the first beach day in a while. We are about 5 miles from the beach and it took us about 30 minutes to get to the beach!! Everyone was going to take in such a beautiful day! So for those that live north of Florida, I don't want to brag about the weather, but I did hear ya'll had pretty good weather as well! So I don't feel too bad!

Monday we also got to spend time in the great weather. We hiked in a near by park and looked around at potential neighborhoods that we might start looking in for renting in May. Altogether a great weekend!

Riding The Waves of Life

This week was a typical week in some ways and not in others. I mostly kept the fort down at the apartment, looking into new jobs, house cleaning, and getting a well needed hair cut and highlights!! As many of you know my hair was getting really long, she took two inches off and its still long, but I like it that way!! James had a busy week at work. He actually had to work on Monday (normally his weekend). I felt bad for him, but at least he didn't have to go to work on Valentine's Day! They were preparing for the investors that actually came today. He said that things seem to went good. Which is good news for us, it means he still has a job!!

We spent Sunday afternoon at a local state park. We hiked a little on one of the trails and got to go up on this tower that overlooks the park (which was huge). It was such a beautiful sight. You could see down to West Palm, up north of us, out west to I95, and East was the Atlantic Ocean. All from one view. It was truly breath taking! It reminded me of our life groups talk two weeks ago about admiring the work of our Creator. We just stood in awe of the view (and took pictures!!) I should try to upload some tomorrow! It was a great first Valentine's Day for us. We enjoyed having a day to do what we truly love to do; spending time with each other, hiking, exploring a park, and having a picnic! Plus James got me my favorite flower, daisies! (There the ones I can keep too!! He knows me well!!)

I have been challenged this week through J1Ten and our life group. God is really starting to work and move in my life and our lives like never before. I'm just learning day by day to truly surrender my life to God and rely on him fully. I'm starting to realize what it means to have God break my heart for the things that break His.

Tuesday, February 9, 2010

So this week has been good. We started off the week by attending J1Ten. This is a new ministry for young adults that our church is hosting. We really enjoyed the first week. We met a really nice couple that lives only a couple miles down the road from us! I was able to hang out with Lindsey and their 2 year old daughter Emma Friday just to get to know each other better! We have decided to start carpooling to J1Ten which will make things much easier for us since it is 30 miles down the road!!
One Saturday we welcomed a good friend from Tampa, Kim! She got to come over Saturday and spend a little time with us! It was great to catch up with her and see a fimilar face! We enjoyed a night of games in which Kim won Clue and James won Phase Ten and I won nothing (which is usually how it goes). It was a great weekend.
The rest of the weekend was good. I had to work on the only day I look forward too, Sunday. I had to miss chuch. This just makes my week/weekend feel different. Monday was a typical grocery/target/banking day ending with a night watching some of our favorite tv shows (Chuck, Two and Half Men, and Big Bang Theory).
Things are starting off alright this week. I sent out 4 emails to environmental consulting firms to inquire about jobs, 1 email to the zoo for a zookeeper position, and 1 email to the place I volunteer at for a temporary position with Leatherback Research! I really like the last one, the only downside is its a night job. The people that know me best know that I'm not a night owl! I'm usually pretty out of it by 10pm or maybe before!! We are putting our trust and hope in God that He has something down the road for me.

A week of mix emotions

So the beginning of the week was a little rough. Most of you know, but I did not get the job I had been interviewing for. James and I were praying God's will would be done, and I guess this job was just not the job for me at this time. So I had my day of crying and mopping around and now I ready to press forward, because I know God has a plan to prosper us and not to harm us that will give us a hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11). Thank you mom for reminding me once again of this verse! After I though all was going wrong, I got an email from a company I had sent my resume to back in September. They were informing me of a summer tech position available starting in April through August. The job would consist of me getting up really early in the morning, going to the beach, and searching and marking sea turtle nest!! Sounds like the perfect job for me! So I emailed them back with everything and waiting to see if this one works out!!

James is busy with his work. They are having the investor come in this coming Monday, so they are all preparing for that. Hopefully everything will go as planned and things will be smooth this week for them!

We had a very nice relaxing weekend. Friday night we got to attend a volunteer appreciation thing that the church held. It was a good night. We learned about things that are on the heart of our Church leaders including human trafficking. I personally did not know much about this topic, but God is starting to break my heart for this. I'm looking forward what God has in store for our church to get involved in. The rest of the weekend consisted of work and a little relaxing on Sunday and Monday for James!

We are looking forward to the opportunities that God is giving us this week. We are planning to check out a young adult ministry that is starting tonight at the church. We are always looking forward to our small group on Wednesday nights. God has blessed us with some great new friends!

Hope everyone is having a great week! We miss all of you that we don't get to see often!!

Another Week

A week has gone by since our first blog. Not much happened this week besides us going to work. We had small group on Wednesday night where we are reading through the book of Primal. We have a great group and are having great discussions. We are so thankful that God has placed these people in our lives!

Our weekend was nice and relaxing. Sunday was church and a lazy afternoon and evening laying on the couch and watching tv! A much needed day of rest! Monday was a typical day of laundry, cleaning, and grocery shopping!

We are looking forward to the next week to see what the Lord has in store for us! Hopefully I will be finding out about a more permanent job (2 possible jobs hopefully one works out). We are placing the job opportunities into Gods hands and trusting in Him every step of the way!

First Night of Blogging!

So we have decided to start blogging. Mainly because we want a way to document our journey in life, but also for friends and family that we don't get to see or talk to often. We are loving married life! We have been married for almost 7 months! James is still working with shrimp and I am still looking for a stable job. We are definitly learning how to rely on and trust God. We know He has a plan for us and can't wait to see the journey he takes us on!
